What’s the difference between accept and except?

Accept means to receive something or to give approval. Think of the A’s in Chicken Accepting her Awesome Award to help you remember.

Except means with the exclusion or exception of. So it’s right there in the name, but people sometimes mix things up a little. So think of Chicken bumping into her EX at the grocery store – she would have preferred bumping into anyone EXcept him.
