What’s the difference between converse and conversate?
Converse (v.) means to engage in conversation.
Conversate is technically not a real word. You cannot cut “conversation” in half and call it a word.
I know what you’re thinking: But Grammar Chicken, I found it on the Google! And yes – yes, you did. But only because y’all messed it up for so long, dictionaries began listing it as a “nonstandard” word, much to the chagrin of grammar- and word-loving writers everywhere.
The Grammar Chicken implores you to use the real word.
